In view of the measure prohibiting all organised sport until 11th April, 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, as announced by the Government today, the Malta Football Association is temporarily suspending all football competitions in Malta and Gozo, effective from tomorrow, 11th March, 2021.
The Malta FA is keeping regular contact with the Ministry responsible for sport as it continues to monitor the situation very closely, also in view of the national teams’ upcoming international matches, scheduled to take place in the final week of March, and the required preparations for these commitments.
While reiterating that, in the current situation, the health and well-being of all remains the number one priority, the Malta FA will be pursuing further discussions with the relevant authorities to minimise the disruptive effect such restrictions have on football and sports in general.
As it has done since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in March last year, the Association will continue to provide regular updates and guidance to its Member Clubs and Member Associations.
