€ 2.5 million agreement between the Ministry of Health and Hospice Malta

The Ministry for Health and Hospice Malta have entered into an agreement whereby the Ministry for Health will be paying the salary of a number of professionals working with the Hospice. This agreement is worth € 2.5 million over three years and will also help the Hospice to continue investing in the purchase of specialized machinery.

At the signing of the agreement, Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Chris Fearne said the government had recognized the services needed to provide the Hospice in the community. “The government must work hand in hand with civil society to complement each other in the services offered to our patients. We believe in the dedication of the Hospice and in the professionalism of the services they offer “.

He also said that talks are underway with the Hospice and the Church on the St. Michael’s Center which will offer palliative care for cancer patients.

Hospice Malta Chair Bernardette Bonnici Kind thanked the Ministry of Health for its help over the years to Hospice.
