Last year was not a good year for Malta’s tourism industry, let alone the accommodation sector; yet in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic a number of new hotels opened, including two international-branded properties.
There’s also been a number of new guest houses that opened in 2020.
Today, the guest house category numbers 99 properties – 85 are in Malta and 14 in Gozo.
This information and more is available in the just published 2021edition of the Malta Hotels Directory. This is the 22nd edition of the directory that was first published in 1999.
The directory is produced by Mosta-based Island Publications on behalf of the Malta Tourism Authority, and is the official accommodation listing for the islands. It is distributed internationally by the authority and is available from its bureaux abroad and all its PR agents dotted around the world and, of course, locally from the MTA’s information offices.
The Malta Hotels Directory 2021 may also be downloaded from the authority’s site (www.visitmalta.com/en/hotels) and on ISSUU (issuu.com/visitmalta/docs/malta_hotels_directory_2020).
The 116-page directory lists all licensed hotels, tourist villages (well, there’s just one), guest houses and hostels on the islands.
“It is heartening to see that in this digital age, there is still a need and want for a traditionally-produced version of this directory,” says IPL publisher Terence Mirabelli.
