During a visit in Santa Luċija, Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Capital Projects Ian Borg announced a €2 million investment in a project to build and improve seven residential roads, as well as a belvedere upgrade in Garnaw Valley in Santa Luċija.
Minister Ian Borg expressed the government’s satisfaction in delving deeper into the heart of the localities and working for the resident’s requests in order to offer them the best quality of life possible.
“The vision of this government is crystal clear. This is a government for the people whose work never ceases to stop and whose commitment is to continue serving and providing the people with a safer and greener infrastructure of the highest quality. Residents of Santa Luċija, apart from benefitting from seven new residential roads of the highest quality, will also be given a greener lung thanks to the belvedere upgrade of Garnaw Valley, which will be embellished with trees and shrubs. In addition, this will also serve as a site where residents can enjoy walks in their free time in a calm and serene environment. We will also offer new lanes for cyclists in order to continue to incentivise people to make more use of alternative and cleaner means of transport,” said Minister Ian Borg.
Works started this week in Dawret it-Torri Street, which links Tal-Barrani Road with Tal-Prinjoli Street and with the Parish Church area in the centre of Santa Luċija.
The Santa Luċija Local Council redesigned this outdoor green area in collaboration with Infrastructure Malta, to create a new recreational space for residents and a safer route for cyclists and pedestrians.
As part of the same project, Infrastructure Malta will also rebuild other nearby streets, including Klematis Street, Dun M. Mifsud Street, Il-Ġjaċinti Street, Stella Maris Street, It-Tulipan Street and Iċ-Ċikwejra Street.
During the last two years, other streets were rebuilt in Santa Luċija, such as Bruka Street, Il-Ġiżimin Street, Żnuber Street and Gardenja Street.
