New initiatives to strengthen police training

Months of preparations will lead to initiatives to make the training provided to new and existing members of the Police Force more specialized and even accredited, including by reputable institutions.

This was the message from Home Affairs, National Security and Law Enforcement Minister Byron Camilleri when he visited 65 recruits currently undergoing their training at the Academy for Disciplined Bodies. Minister Camilleri explained how the aim is to further improve the skills of the members of the Police Force. “This year should be the one that lays the groundwork for us to move towards these goals,” said Minister Camilleri, explaining that the enthusiasm for change and renewal in the Police Force does not stop. nothing and the transformation strategy launched last year was just the beginning.

The minister appealed to the new recruits to take up this job with enthusiasm and dedication in the community they serve.

“This government is making an unprecedented investment in law enforcement and this is clear not only from the investment being made in new equipment and devices but also in training,” said Minister Camilleri. He also explained how the training of officials is a crucial part of the government’s vision to continue investing in the security of our country.

Intensive training is taking place over a number of weeks and involves practical and theoretical training. This will lead the recruits to be prepared for whatever they encounter in their daily work.
