Cardinal Mario Grech calls on Speaker Anglu Farrugia

His Eminence Mario Grech, Cardinal and Secretary-General of the Synod of Bishops paid a courtesy call to the Speaker of the House of Representatives Anġlu Farrugia.

Speaker Farrugia highlighted the excellent and cordial relations which exist between Malta and the Holy See. He referred to the correspondence sent in November last year to Mgr Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States, adding that a parliamentary friendship group was formed so that Malta’s relations with the Holy See would be further enhanced.

Speaker Farrugia and Cardinal Grech exchanged views on the pastoral work of the Catholic Church, particularly in Latin America, where a number of Maltese and Gozitans are doing missionary work among the poor. Pope Francis and his teachings were also discussed.

Cardinal Grech was accompanied by Mgr. Eddie Zammit. Clerk of the House Ray Scicluna was also present.
