The government approves a € 5 million grant to the Puttinu Cares Foundation for the purchase of apartments in the heart of London

Prime Minister Robert Abela together with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health Chris Fearne, and the Minister for Finance and Financial Services Edward Scicluna, presided over the signing of an agreement by which the Government of Malta will provide a € 5 Million grant from the National Social and Development Fund to the Puttinu Cares Foundation to enable it to invest in more apartments in central London and a stone’s throw away from the Great Ormand Hospital.

At a press conference in Castile, Prime Minister Robert Abela expressed his satisfaction with this agreement and called for us as a people to stand in solidarity and support each other in times of difficulty as is currently happening in of the pandemic.

“People  still have beautiful values ​​and what we are signing today is a reflection of the beautiful characteristics of the Maltese people who in a time of difficulty are one chain to give our support to each other,” said the Prime Minister

Dr. Abela said that the idea for this project was born four years ago when he was still a volunteer with Putin and from there he started working to get funding for it. He stated that until recently there were moments when this agreement could be violated but the government did not accept this because it believed that the health of the Maltese and Gozitan patient prevails over all other considerations.

The Prime Minister said that this agreement could materialize because the government could give its support through the Social and National Development Fund. He announced that when the agreement for the purchase of the property is signed, the Fund will pass € 5 million to Putin along with other payments that will make good the use of the apartments.
