Premier league leaders Everton and champions Liverpool played out an entertaining 2-2 draw in the Merseyside derby to keep the Blues top of the premiership.
In a game that flowed one way then the other Liverpool thought they had won with a late Henderson close range strike only for VAR to rule a Liverpool player marginally offside.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was furious at the decision, the second time in the match when he felt refereeing decisions went against his side. In the opening minutes Mane put Liverpool in front and minutes later in another Liverpool attack Everton’s keeper keeper Pickford clattered into Van Dijk, a collision that saw the Dutch international defender hobble out of the game. No action was taken against Pickford, leaving Klopp and many others baffled.
In Saturday night’s game, Manchester United shrugged off their heavy defeat by Tottenham Hotspur with a 4-1 win at Newcastle. A flattering score -line maybe but relief for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Utd.
On Sunday Tottenham take on city rivals West Ham with Gareth Bale likely to make his first Spurs appearance since 2013.
