Cottonera Foundation announces a fund for Cottonera associations and societies

Minister for the National Heritage, the Arts and Local Government José Herrera together with the Cottonera Foundation Chairman Glenn Bedingfield announced a fund of around €200,000 to be benefitted from by Cottonera associations and societies.

Minister Herrera stated that the government is investing in areas that require further attention and a regeneration plan from a cultural and heritage aspect. He stated that after Valletta, Mdina and Cottonera, the government is looking at Marsa as another locality that requires a regeneration plan. Minister Herrera said that over the years Cottonera has seen great changes and that through the strategy that is being implemented, a better and more beautiful environment is being created that pays tribute to the three cities and Kalkara. He urged associations and societies to apply for this fund so that this investment will be a real success for Cottonera.

Glenn Bedingfield explained that these projects and initiatives can be of a social, cultural, educational, or capital nature. He said that this fund is part of the strategy for Cottonera which is being implemented and which aims at regeneration for the people. He stated that he was satisfied with the way the strategy is being implemented and mentioned the various restoration works underway around the Cottonera, including the Ricasoli Fortress, the bastion of St Michael in Senglea, the Santa Margerita forts in Cospicua, and the Cottonera Lines.
