A Steve Borg header deep into stoppage time away to Latvia gave Malta their first ever win in the UEFA Nations League.
The win lifts Malta to second place in their group behind Faroe Islands.
Malta now has two games remaining, both at home, against Andorra and Faroe Islands.
Borg’s goal sparked scenes of wild jubilation among the Malta contingent and rightly so as Malta’s performance in Latvia and also already against Andorra and the Faroe Islands has raised expectations that Malta could reach the next round.
