British PM Boris Johnson is expected to announce new tougher measures to combat coronavirus today which could include the closure ofpubs and restaurants in parts of northern England and the Midlands – where some of the highest numbers of cases are occurring.
Liverpool, Manchester and Newcastle, already under restrictions, are facing even more measures to combat the spread of the virus.
A senior medical officer has said the country is at a “tipping point”.
