Malta picked up their first point in the UEFA Nations League with a battling 1-1 draw at home to Latvia.
Coach Devis Mangia made two changes from the side that lost to the Faroe Islands with Teddy Teuma and Enrico Pepe replacing Steve Pisani and Andre Agius.
Malta showed their intent from the whistle as they pressed for an early opener.
It came after just 15 minutes when Kyrian Nwoko tapped home from close range after good work on the right from Joseph Mbong.
Latvia drew level ten minutes later when a Kaspars Dubra shot was deflected by Matthew Guillaumier past a stranded Bonello.
Chances after that were few and neither side could find a winner in a scappy second half.
A spirited performance from Malta that earned them their first point to move off the bottom of Group D1.
