Active Ageing and Community Care provides a local free of charge transport service for older persons in several localities. This service is mainly used to help older persons carry out their daily errands within a locality. This service is available from Monday to Friday, from 7am till 2pm.
Until now, Active Ageing and Community Care was offering this service in the localities of Baħrija, Burmarrad, Gzira, Safi, Mosta, Msida, Mtarfa, Rabat, Ta’ Xbiex and Żurrieq and receives around 500 calls monthly from older persons who wish to make use of such service.
During a press conference, Parliamentary Secretary for Active Ageing and Persons with Disability Silvio Parnis announced that as of today, the 7th of September, this service will also be available in Mġarr, Dingli, Pietà, Gudja, Paola, Fgura, Tarxien and Santa Luċija. Therefore, this service is now available in 18 different localities. The parliamentary secretary also said that it is planned to make this service available in all localities in Malta and Gozo. Furthermore, there is an ongoing tendering process for electrical vehicles which will also be accessible for older persons with disability. The electrical vehicles will then replace the vehicles which are currently being used.

All those interested in making use of such service must make a reservation not later than two days prior by calling on 159 or on 21695544.
