Inaugurating this simulator with an investment of € 115,000, the Minister of the Interior, National Security and Law Enforcement Byron Camilleri explained how this technology will help the officers of the Corps better understand the realities of victims of domestic violence.
Virtually, the police will be able to get into the shoes of those children who unfortunately live this reality in their homes. This simulator will be part of the ongoing training given to police on domestic violence while it will also be used in the training of new recruits.
“This project shows how we are looking at more than one solution to have a Police Force that looks more at the victim, while remaining firm with the perpetrator,” said the minister. He explained how this investment ties in with the establishment of a new police squad that will be focused primarily on domestic violence, which will be announced in the coming weeks.
Minister Camilleri spoke about how this simulator is another step to ensure that the support given to these victims is excellent. “This is another change we are making. We will continue to increase training and human resources within the Corps so that victims of crime find the help they need at the most vulnerable time, “said the minister.
Also present for the inauguration was the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Angelo Gafà who also spoke about the will of the Police Force to offer a better service to those who are going through a difficult time.
