Joseph Muscat called in for questioning in Daphne Caruana Galizia murder case

Former prime minister Joseph Muscat has been called to Police Headquarters in connection with the investigation into the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia according to reports in local media.

Joseph Muscat on social media wrote, “Today I went to the Police Headquarters where I answered questions on points regarding a statement given by Mr Yorgen Fenech in the case of the murder of Mrs Daphne Caruana Galizia, and that according to the media a broadcast had been given only after a request for pardon made by Mr Fenech had been rejected.
While I am not free to give details, I can say that almost all of the points raised were in the public domain, and I have already denied them in the answers and public statements I have given.
The Police confirmed to me that I am not under investigation in connection with the case.
The Police are doing their job as they have always done until I was Prime Minister and this has even led to an important unblocking in a major case, as opposed to major crimes committed before.
Duties towards the State I have always done and will continue to do.
If the Police need any further assistance on this case, which has been closed under me, and on any other case, I am ready to give it”.

Later Joseph Muscat told reporters, “Police have stated that I am not being investigated in the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia.”
