A public consultation meeting organized by the Planning Authority was constantly disrupted by boos and jeers from the hundreds of people who turned up at Le Meridien Hotel.

Local Council leaders were opposed to the project and Malta Developers’ Association official Pierre Galea claimed that developers too will be negatively effected by the plan.
