Preparations for the upcoming Presidency were discussed during talks between Prime Minister Joseph Muscat and the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission Federica Mogherini.
While the European Union is passing through very uncertain times, Dr Muscat explained that Malta will put forward a very realistic and focused programme without delusions but with clear targets on the results that can be achieved. The Prime Minister mentioned the critical situations in Syria and Libya as one of the priorities which will put on the agenda to show that Europe is taking note of the serious state of affairs and ready to act.
The Vice-President of the European Commission described Malta’s pragmatic approach to the Presidency as a positive and exciting moment during which our country can serve a brigding role in favour of security and reconciliation.
