Industrial action by nurses at the Emergency Department at Mater Dei Hospital has been called off following exhaustive talks between the Health Minister and the nurses union, MUMN.
In a tweet on Monday evening, Health Minister Chris Fearne said: “Agreement between #Health Dpt and #MUMN after marathon negotiating session – industrial directives at emergency department to be withdrawn”.
The MUMN had claimed that a shortage of nurses had led to junior nurses doing work normally assigned to senior nurses at the Emergency Department.
