Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri and Minister for Solidarity and Social Justice, Family and Children’s Rights Michael Falzon presided over the signing of an agreement between the Ministry for Gozo and the Foundation for Social Welfare Services (FSWS).
With this agreement, through the Directorate of the Foundation for Social Welfare Services for Gozo, a training and integration program will be offered aimed at strengthening inclusiveness and independent living. This builds on other programs offered by the FSWS Directorate for Gozo in the community and in residential settings.
Training for employment and entrepreneurship is a methodology and set of tools for the transition from school to work and accessibility to the labor market for vulnerable groups. This methodology is based on 36 months of training.
The Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri announced that for this purpose, “The Ministry for Gozo will be allocating the sum of € 300,000 to the FSWS for the first year of training, ie in 2021”. He said that although we have economic growth and a reduction in the level of poverty, we must continue to attach importance to the inclusion of vulnerable groups. He mentioned that this government is working hard to further improve the education system and vocational training as well as create new job opportunities. However, he said, “We also recognize that there are still individuals from certain vulnerable groups facing particular challenges and disadvantages due to their economic, social and cultural situation and our goal is to work to help these individuals.”
Minister for Solidarity and Social Justice, the Family and the Rights of the Child Michael Falzon said that this is a clear example of how we must continue to encourage more young people to believe more in themselves and through such help seek job opportunities. Minister Michael Falzon said that this training program is a clear example of the realization of social justice especially with people considered vulnerable.
