Hibernians opened their Bottom Six campaign with a comfortable 3-0 win against Melita at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Sunday.
From the whistle Hibs were on the front foot as they sought an early breakthrough and it arrived within minute as Dexter Xuereb found Khevin Fraga who fired home to put Hibs in front.

It was 2-0 to Hibs mid-way through the first half when Villela’s clever pass set up Alex Bruno to finish from close range.

Melita were struggling to make any inroads in the game and  their only half chance came just before the break when Andre Costa tried his luck from long range but his shot failed test Pablo Sanchez.

Hibs made sure of the points shortly after the break when Villela was first to a loose ball and his shot hit the post and bounced off the unfortunate Mizzi into his own goal.

Substitute Jurgen de Gabriele almost added a fourth late in game but after his initial strike was blocked by Mizzi could only drag his effort from the rebound wide of the post.

It finished 3-0 for Hibernians who top the Bottom Six table.
