The Government of Malta pays tribute to Archbishop Emeritus Mons. Paul Cremona who has passed away at the age of 79. He will be given his last respects through a funeral that will be organised by the State and the Church on Saturday 22 March at 9:30am with a presente cadavere mass at St John’s Co-Cathedral, Valletta.
Prime Minister Robert Abela spoke with the Archbishop of Malta Mons. Charles J. Scicluna, where an agreement was reached that the funeral of Mons. Cremona will be organised by the State and the Church. This in recognition of the generous service that the Archbishop Emeritus gave to society in the country.
He will be remembered for his humility and community service not only in his pastoral work as the spiritual shepherd of the Maltese Archdiocese but also before. During his Episcopate, it was a wonderful occasion that Malta welcomed Pope Benedict XVI.
Next Saturday, the Government is announcing that it will also be a day of mourning. More details regarding the farewell to Mons. Cremona will be announced later.
