Hamas government media says that more than 300 people have died after Israel launched a massive airstrike as a ceasefire stalled.

The government media office called the attacks a “blatant violation of all international and humanitarian conventions”.

The airstrike has been condemned by the UN.

The Israeli Defence Force has issued evacuation orders for a number of areas in Gaza, suggesting a major military operation is imminent.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said the airstrikes were due to “Hamas’s repeated refusal to release our hostages”.
