Prime Minister Robert Abela had a meeting with the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Turkey Hakan Fidan. In the meeting many themes were discussed including the strengthening of commercial relations between the two countries, the possibility of more cooperation in the renewable energy sector, also in the light of an agreement between Malta and Libya in ‘this regard, and immigration.
The two sides also talked about Malta’s Presidency of the OSCE and the Prime Minister stressed the commitment of our country to keep pushing for peace in the context of the war in Ukraine and the Middle East. . Regarding Ukraine, the Turkish diplomatic mediation was noted, which is also translating into results related to food security. Regarding the Middle East the Prime Minister stressed that the international community must continue to work for the permanent cessation of fighting and for the solution of the two states. The meeting was also attended by the Minister for Foreign and European Affairs and Trade, Ian Borg and the Head of the Secretariat of the Office of the Prime Minister, Glenn Micallef.
