Għajnsielem Local Council inaugurated six cat shelters that will be spread around different sites in the locality, Ta ‘Passi, the Gudja playingfield, Triq Baħarara, Triq Xprunara, Fuq the Eye and in the vicinity of the Tower.
This project costs € 6,287, for which the Council was awarded the sum of € 5,000 from the LC Care Project 2019A. This scheme was launched by the Ministry for Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights, Anton Refalo. This grant also includes the process of cat neutering as well as the distribution of food to cat feeders. The cat café project is aimed at serving as a pilot project and will eventually grow and spread to other locations around Malta and Gozo.
