President of Malta George Vella, accompanied by a group of year six students from San Ġorġ Preca College Valletta Primary school, visited the Presidential Palace in Valletta.
Perit David Zahra and Curator Emmanuel Magro Conti explained to President Vella and the students the restoration works carried out in the Palace in the last four and a half years, most of which have now been completed. In a few words during this visit, the President noted the beauty of the Palace, which is now more visible through these works, particularly the Armoury, now in its original location in the Palace.
The President and the students were the first to visit the audiovisual halls which will be taking the visitors on a journey through the 450 years of history of the Valletta Palace, from the Knights’ period to this day.
Mario Cutajar, Chairman of Heritage Malta, and Noel Zammit, CEO of Heritage Malta, were also present for this visit.
President Vella is inviting the public to visit the Grandmaster’s Palace in Valletta on Tuesday 26 December, which will be open to the public to enjoy its beauty now that the works are nearing completion. During this activity, the public will also have the unique opportunity to visit the President’s office within this Palace.
The Grandmaster’s Palace will be open from 10:00 to 18:00. All proceeds from this event will go to The Malta Community Chest Fund.
