Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Capital Projects Ian Borg attended a presentation by Projects Plus Ltd and Malita Investments PLC explaining ongoing works on 16 sites in 9 different localities towards the building of 768 apartments, 270 garages, and 350 car spaces.
The project is estimated to cost around €58 million and is being implemented by Malita Investments PLC when it comes to financing and Projects Plus Ltd when it comes to consultation.
Minister Ian Borg said, “Project management is important to our country. I am therefore proud that Projects Plus has been trusted by Malita Investments to offer its consultation and assistance and to ensure that the projects we are promising are being completed and delivered to the people. Government has a social spirit and is committed to investing in the quality of life of people. If we truly want to see tangible improvement, we need to ensure that the people have access to affordable housing of appropriate quality. This is the end goal of this project and we will continue investing and working to witness more and more such projects reaching the people. In the meantime, we are also carrying out various investments including the rehabilitation of abandoned buildings by the GHRC for similar use by our people.”
Malita Investments PLC secured project financing by the Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB) and the European Investment Bank (EIB). Meanwhile, Projects Plus Ltd has various roles, including project estimates, assistance with the publication and evaluation of tenders at different stages, technical assistance to ensure standards, a compilation of necessary works and other assistance. The project includes a site in Luqa, a site in Attard, a site in Siġġiewi, 2 sites in Qrendi, a site in Birkirkara, a site in Msida, a site in Żurrieq, 4 sites in Kirkop, a site in Cospicua, and 2 sites in Żebbuġ (Malta). 11 out of these 16 sites are at construction stage.
