The LESA Agency continues to invest in the heart of the Maltese and Gozitan communities. This with two other projects that the residents of Fgura and Santa Lucija will enjoy.
In fact, from 2021 until today, LESA is investing €3.3 million in 61 projects in various localities, with 21 of them completed, while 40 are still being implemented. Currently LESA is also concluding the allocation of funds for next year where several Local Councils have already come forward with their proposals in order to benefit from financing of new projects in the heart of the respective localities.
Through an investment of around €100,000, the locations of Fgura and Santa Lucija now also have electric vehicles for the service and needs of the communities. This is another investment in people, which directly affects those most vulnerable, for more activity in our society. These join, among others, the localities of Floriana, Kalkara, Ħal-Lija and San Lawrenz in Gozo which have all carried out similar projects.
The Minister for the Interior, Security, Reforms and Equality, Byron Camilleri said that the LESA Agency is continuing to invest in the community even in partnership with the Local Councils. “LESA continues to support direct investment for people, in the heart of our communities. Fgura and Santa Lucija now have electric vans with the aim of transporting elderly people, or those with mobility problems, for medical needs or for some activity in the locality. In this way, LESA is tangibly converting the income from contraventions into important projects that give people a better quality of life,” Minister Camilleri concluded.
Parliamentary Secretary for Local Government Alison Zerafa Civelli said that these two projects for the use of the communities in Santa Lucija and in Fgura are the fruit of an agreement that was made between the LESA agency and the Association of Local Councils. “Through this agreement, these two Local Councils will be offering a service that gives residents easy access to the necessary daily services,” stressed the Parliamentary Secretary.
The Mayor of Saint Lucia, Charmaine St. John and the Mayor of Fgura, Pierre Dalli, stated how the LESA funds were a support for the localities that they lead in order to carry out important projects from which the residents of the respective localities benefit. They said how these vehicles will be of service to the elderly in both localities for their essential needs. Present for this inauguration was the Executive Secretary of the Association for Local Councils, Lianne Cassar and the CEO of LESA, Svetlick Flores.
