The Minister for Public Works and Planning, Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi visited the National Park in Ta’ Qali, in the area of the Formal Garden, where the process of planting trees, plants is coming to an end and bushes for this year.
In these nine months, around 3000 trees and shrubs and 42,000 plants were planted. This complements the collective work of the government where more trees and shrubs are being planted throughout the country, while the beautification of open spaces continues.
Minister Zrinzo Azzopardi explained that the regeneration of the Ta’ Qali National Park is at an advanced stage and mentioned that earlier this year the space for Art and Theater in the National Park was inaugurated to be used for cultural productions and an investment was made in the park’s facilities so that they can be enjoyed by the artists and the public in general. The minister praised the work being done by the Department of Public Works, who are responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of this park. While appealing to Maltese and Gozitan families to visit this park, the minister said that he looks forward to continuing the work and completing the other areas that form part of this project.
The Head of the Ta’ Qali National Park Unit, Jason Micallef, said that he is satisfied with the best level standards with which this park is being maintained and looked after. He continued that regular investment is being made in this park so that it continues to be one of the most beautiful open spaces in our country. Also present for the inauguration was the Director General of the Department of Public Works, Architect Stephen Bonello, and the workers who work in the Unit that is managing the Ta’ Qali National Park.
