The Iklin Local Council will organize another edition of Festa Fjuri in the locality. This activity will take place on Saturday 27 May, from 9 am to 2 pm in Triq Anton Buttigieg, l’Iklin. These details were announced during a news conference by the Parliamentary Secretary for Local Government Alison Zerafa Civelli.
The theme for this edition is ‘Love nature to stay healthy’. The main objective of this cultural and educational activity is the promotion of nature and the importance of taking care of it. During the activity there will be a flower arrangement with Petunia flowers designed by a local artist. For this display approximately 10,000 plants will be used which after the activity will be distributed to the residents of Iklin to decorate the gardens, parapets, balconies and openings of private residences.
Parliamentary Secretary Alison Zerafa Civelli praised the initiative of the Iklin Local Council which is once again organizing this activity in the heart of the community. “Socio-cultural and educational activities such as Festa Fjuri offer a sense of community to the residents, while also strengthening the identity of this locality,” said Parliamentary Secretary Zerafa Civelli.
It was explained that in the first half of the morning there will be a section of Eco Cafe where a number of speakers will make a presentation on various topics, which include local ecology, biodiversity, Maltese endemic plants, recipes with -use of spices and about the use of essential oils made from the petals.
The speakers are all experts in the respective sector and it will be a good opportunity for the community to attend and hear information on these subjects. The Mayor of Iklin, Dr. Dorian Sciberras, explained that the Local Council issued a call of interest for artists who reside in Iklin to participate and exhibit their art during this activity. He concluded by saying that the Local Council fully believes in the concept of community engagement and committed to continue working in favor of inclusiveness in their locality.
The Director for the Implementation of Strategy and Policy within the Local Government Division, Marisa Pisani, stressed the importance of unity in the councils so that social and innovative activities that benefit the residents continue to be organized. The councilors and the executive secretary of the Iklin Local Council were also present for this news conference.
