Prime Minister Robert Abela Abela met and with many students and representatives of the student unions who are welcoming the students through the stands scattered around the campus of the University of Malta.
This week sees the start of another academic year in this tertiary educational institution.
When he was talking to the students and their respective associations, the prime minister followed closely the dedication and love that these associations have towards the voluntary work they carry out in favor of the student, with the aim which offer the best educational experience during the course of study.
Dr. Abela also had the opportunity to speak with a number of companies that during this week chose to go to the university and talk more closely with the students about job opportunities in many different sectors.
The prime minister noted how all the companies are waiting this week with strong enthusiasm in order to entice more students to enter the world of work while they are in their educational course.
In this context, the prime minister stressed again the importance of investing in students through stipends and other grants which have been increased by one million euros for this academic year.
“You are filled with more courage when you hear the companies tell you that they are here for one purpose; to seek to employ more students with them. The private sector is thirsty to employ tertiary education students and news like today’s motivates us to continue supporting students with all the necessary tools”, stated Dr Abela.
During the visit, the prime minister was accompanied by the Minister for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation Clifton Grima, the Rector of the University of Malta, Professor Alfred J. Vella, and the President of the University Student Council (KSU) Alexandra Gaglione.
