At a news conference at the Xemxija Civil Protection Station, Interior, Security, Reform and Equality Minister Byron Camilleri inaugurated two more new vehicles for the Department of Civil Protection, which vehicles amount to € 1.2 million.
In fact, the minister inaugurated a BA tender, a vehicle intended to supply the Department of Civil Protection with a large number of breathing cylinders that are used as often as necessary during an operation. With this vehicle, these cylinders will be able to be refilled on site thanks to the technology with which it is equipped.
The second vehicle is a lighting unit that will help members of the Civil Protection to light up the emergency area. This vehicle can also supply sanitary facilities and a supply of drinking water during a long-term operation.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Camilleri said that activities such as this morning are an important reminder that investments in entities such as Civil Protection cannot stop. “The moment we stop investing in Civil Protection will be the moment we stop investing in people and their safety.”
Dr Camilleri said that the government’s commitment is to continue to buy the best possible equipment so that the Civil Protection continues to respond to calls in the best way and with the best tools for its workers. The minister mentioned that during this week, in one of the last episodes where the Civil Protection was called to intervene in one of the factories in Corradino, one could observe closely the work of the members of this the department. “I am sure, not only because I have been told this, that all the investments we have made have certainly helped to make the response to that emergency not only immediate, but one that responds optimally,” the minister stressed. .
Finally, Dr. Camilleri said that such a device today is important to buy because in life you never know what might happen and what you may encounter.
