Nine local councils have reached an agreement with the Cleaning and Maintenance Division

An MoU was signed earlier in the afternoon between the Cleaning and Maintenance Division and nine local councils. This signing was attended by the Parliamentary Secretary for Consumer Protection and Public Cleanliness Deo Debattista and the respective mayors. This two-year agreement is being made in collaboration between these two entities to continue to ensure that cleanliness is maintained throughout the country.

In recent months, 22 MoUs have been signed as well as several MoUs with other government entities. Discussions are currently underway with several other local councils to reach the same agreement across the country.

Parliamentary Secretary Deo Debattista announced that last year, the Division carried out various local works worth around € 1,600,000. He went on to say that by the first six months of this year this figure had already risen to around € 760,000. The Parliamentary Secretary concluded by saying that this government has always been close to the people, so the Cleaning and Maintenance Division will continue to invest in cleanliness and maintenance in its villages and Maltese cities.

“As a Division we maintain regular contact with local councils, where we also take care of holding meetings on a regular basis” explained the Head of the Cleaning and Maintenance Division Ramon Deguara. He went on to say that with the COVID-19 pandemic the work has increased in our communities and thanks to this MoU we will continue to do this same work throughout the year. Deguara closed by thanking his entire team for the great work that is making a difference.
