The three Presidential Palaces are lit in preparation for World Blood Donor Day

As of last night, the façades of the three Presidential Palaces have been lit red to raise more awareness about the importance of blood donations while showing appreciation to all donors.

The Grand Masters’ Palace in Valletta, Sant’Anton Palace, as well as Verdala Palace will remain lit until the 14th of June, when World Blood Donor Day is commemorated all over the world.

This year is the 18th time that this day is being commemorated, and the chosen slogan is “Give blood and keep the world beating”.

President of Malta George Vella takes this opportunity to encourage governmental, non-governmental, commercial, and other entities to join in this initiative through which appreciation is shown to blood donors, particularly those who during the pandemic overcame fear to donate blood and support thousands in need of blood transfusions.
