A protest has begun to get remove part of the “Jungle” migrant camp in Calais with heavy disruption expected for British travellers.
French hauliers, farmers and unionists have set off from Dunkirk and Boulogne and are holding up traffic on the A16 towards Calais in two columns of traffic.
Up to 9,000 migrants from countries including Sudan, Syria and Eritrea are living in the “Jungle”, despite efforts to reduce numbers by dismantling the southern section of the camp earlier this year.
