Two early second half goals saw Hibernians ease past Mosta to keep up the pressure on premier leaders Hamrun.
Bjorn Kristensen took advantage of a poor Mosta clearance to put Hibs in front shortly after the restart before Andre Agius made it 2-0 minutes later.
Mosta managed by the former keeper Hibs Mario Muscat had the better of the first half but were lacking a finishing touch.
The second half belonged to Hibernians who with a two goal lead easily saw out the remainder of the game without allowing Mosta any clear sight of their goal.
Hibs are now eight games unbeaten and remain two points behind Hamrun who beat Birkirkara 2-0.
Leaders Hamrun maintained their two point lead thanks to a goal in each half from Ailton Jorge dos Santos Soares.
with just under ten minutes gone, Soares latched onto a pass by Joseph Mbong and fired past Guarnone.
Hamrun had to wait until extra time to make sure of the win when Birkirkara lost the ball near the Spartan’s goal and Soares had a free run down the pitch to grab his second and clinch the points for Hamrun.
