This Christmas, the Esplora will transform itself into Santa Claus’ STEM factory where there will be a fantastic variety of interactive shows, hands-on workshops as well as interesting exhibitions related to science and which will be suitable for visitors of all ages.
During this period visitors are invited to attend Esplora to enter the fascinating world of STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) in the spirit of the festivities. The Parliamentary Secretary for Youth, Research and Innovation, Keith Azzopardi Tanti said that this event is a clear example of our commitment to ensure that children and young people have the opportunity to explore, experiment, and they learn in an environment that arouses their curiosity and potential.
“By making STEM subjects accessible, we are fostering a workforce that drives progress, encourages economic growth, and builds a brighter future for everyone,” repeated Azzopardi Tanti.
The public is encouraged to attend to discover the magic associated with these festive days by observing Christmas through the lens of innovation and technology. Everyone who attends this event will discover what role science plays and how it affects various aspects of Christmas — from seasonal food to the wonder of robotics and space technology among others.
Everyone who attended will be able to enjoy a variety of activities and shows that all have Christmas as a theme. Among these activities stand out Be Our Guest: A Christmas Food Science Show, Once Upon a Christmas, AstroMaterials Lab, Santa’s Sorting Bots and Festive 3D Printing Workshop.
The Head of Esplora, Olaf McKay reiterated that, “We are very eager to offer this unique experience to the public, and we hope that we will succeed in bringing families together so that with the background of Esplora they can create lasting memories while to better understand the versatility and importance of science and STEM subjects which are the centerpiece of this Centre.”
The event will also be characterized by fun activities with a Science on the Spot format. During activities such as Geo-Math-Tree, Holiday Towers, and Roller Coaster Challenge, the Center’s visitors will be given the opportunity to have fun together with their families and friends by overcoming challenges that require a little puzzle to build some objects related to Christmas, while discovering and understanding the scientific concepts behind these challenges.
For the little visitors, the Esplora has prepared a special program of activities such as the hands on Sense-ational Christmas which offers a sensory experience, while the brand new show that will be shown in the Esplora Planetarium Wonders of the Night Sky – Christmas Edition invites the whole family to embark on a journey around the solar system to help Santa Claus find the gifts he lost in space.
