The Minister for Health and Active Aging Jo Etienne Abela inaugurated a new mammography machine that will help thousands of Gozitan patients to be served in Gozo itself.
Minister Jo Etienne Abela explained that the Gozo General Hospital now has the most advanced mammography machine in our country. He said that this is part of the Government’s work to modernize the radiological equipment, where this machine has now been installed in the Gozo General Hospital with the most advanced Hologic mammography system. He went on to explain that this machine works with modern technology that detects breast cancer in a short time and at an early stage.
Minister Abela explained that this advanced system offers superior image quality and greater comfort for patients. The Hologic 3D mammography system offers the fastest, highest resolution breast imaging in just 3.7 seconds with Clarity HD imaging for lesion diagnosis. An ultrasound and radiography biopsy service will also be provided, and thus comprehensive breast care will be offered to the residents of Gozo.
“The Government will continue to invest in services of the highest quality. Also committed to continue working to offer a superior health service to Maltese and Gozitan patients”, concluded Minister Abela.
