A Maltese fisherman and three fishermen from Indonesia were rescued by authorities after a fishing boat sank near Filfla during the night of Saturday and early hours of Sunday.
The Armed Forces and the Department of Civil Protection carried out a rescue operation after receiving a call for help. AFM rescue units and a helicopter went to the aid of the fishermen who were found on a raft near to where the call for help originated.
From there they were taken to land where they were given assistance by a medical team. It seems that the fishermen declined to be taken to Mater Dei Hospital as they did not suffer from serious injuries.
