‘The Feast that Lights the Tradition’: The Imnarja 2024 program is announced

The Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights Anton Refalo together with the Parliamentary Secretary for Fisheries, Aquaculture and Animal Rights Alicia Bugeja Said announced the program of activities with link with Imnarja 2024, with the theme ‘The Feast that Lights the Tradition’.

For another year, this event will continue to promote and expose everything that is traditionally associated with this Maltese public holiday, with the culmination of everything being in the Buskett.

In a news conference, Minister Anton Refalo stressed, “Year after year, through the activities we are organizing, we are seeing this Maltese festival continue to grow stronger and be appreciated by thousands of Maltese, Gozitans and even tourists. We are seeing that the activities we organize serve as a local showcase, while celebrating the true purpose behind this festival: Maltese traditions, crafts, crafts, traditional games, religion, the -wealth, farming and agriculture in our country. Above all, we celebrate the work of the Maltese and Gozitan farmers and villagers, the fruit and vegetables they grow with so much dedication and the animals they raise.”

Minister Refalo reiterated how all this goes hand in hand with the work of the Government in order to continue rewarding the courage of the Maltese and Gozitan villagers and farmers. “Another occasion where we promote the agricultural sector, which in recent years has continued to show how crucial it is, and also the local product,” concluded Minister Refalo.

Parliamentary Secretary Alicia Bugeja Said explained how Imnarja is a traditional festival that is expected from year to year. “During this festival we are not only celebrating our Maltese roots with local produce, but we are offering a space in the heart of Buskett where families can come and spend their free time and have fun together,” said the Parliamentary Secretary. She ended her speech by thanking the farmers, villagers, and all those who are participating and organizing Imnarja, for their contribution.

The Imnarja 2024 program starts from Saturday 22 June and ends on the day of the festival, on 29 June.

Among the activities one can find the Bandu Parade from Mdina to Victoria, exhibitions of Maltese dogs, equines, goats and sheep, carts and carriages, fruit and vegetables, poultry, machinery and crafts on the fourth, an exhibition related to Imnarja inside the National Center for Viticulture and Oenology, traditional games, singing, dancing, songs and traditional dances and an exhibition of dairy cows.
