The turnout for the European Parliament election at 2pm was 42.59%, according to figures release by the Electoral Commission.
Compared to 2019 election figures, this is almost 10% higher.
Similarly, the local council elections turnout at 2pm stood at 41.1%. This figure also includes early voting that took place over the past week.
In 2019, the turnout at 2pm stood at 32.3%.
