The investment in the health sector in Gozo continues through an investment of over €7 million in new ambulances at the Gozo General Hospital. This was announced by the Minister for Health and Active Aging Jo Etienne Abela.
It was explained how the last investment in ambulances goes back a number of years and therefore the need was felt for Gozo to be equipped with a number of new ambulances that serve the needs of the Gozo people. The new emergency ambulances comply with safety standards that improve the overall quality of service and ensure safety for staff and patients.
Minister Jo Etienne Abela explained how with the arrival of the first two ambulances out of six, Gozo will now be equipped with ambulances of the highest quality that are equipped with advanced medical technology, which are essential to provide quality care. He stressed how the latest medical tools and supplies found in ambulances can significantly improve the care of patients during critical situations.
The advanced life support systems, defibrillators, and monitoring equipment, are crucial to stabilize the patients while they are delivered to the Gozo General Hospital. The minister went on to explain how such ambulances also have advanced communication systems that allow better coordination with ambulance control rooms, hospitals, and other emergency services. This ensures better management in emergency situations.
In addition, they are designed with materials and features that improve infection control, which is especially important in the context of pandemics and communicable diseases. “This investment continues to show the work that the government is doing in favor of the health sector in Gozo,” concluded Minister Jo Etienne Abela.
