The investment in the communities continued through the LESA agency scheme where in partnership with several local councils various projects are carried out in the community.
The Qrendi Local Council benefited from €80,000 to give six typical rural alleys new paving. The funds in the “Community Projects” scheme are administered by the LESA agency which covers 80% of the cost of the project that is submitted by the respective local council. The LESA fund is funded by the summons, which are being invested back into the community.
The Minister for the Interior, Security and Work Byron Camilleri visited some of the alleys that have been re-paved in the heart of the village of Qrendi where in a meeting with the Mayor David Schembri he was given information about the -use of the scheme for other projects planned by the local council of the locality. The minister showed his satisfaction that the LESA funds are being used, among others, to beautify and bring out more the characteristics of Qrendi.
“As a government we are committed to keep investing more in our communities”. The CEO of LESA Svetlick Flores was also present. In the last three years LESA has financed sixty projects put forward by the local councils in Malta and Gozo which amount to three million and fifty thousand euros.
