“The video gaming industry in our country continues to develop and is leading to great collaborations in this sector.” The message from the Minister for Economy, Enterprise and Strategic Projects Silvio Schembri during a visit he made to Stargate Studios in the Mosta Technopark.
Stargate Studios Malta is a company specializing in visual effects and sound effects in television and cinema productions. They also work with an AI system that is leading to more efficiency in this area. During this visit, Stargate Studios signed a collaboration agreement with Sperasoft, an international company in the field of video games that opened studios in our country last year. This agreement will lead to these two companies working together to offer new products of the highest graphic level.
“In 2018 we launched the strategy for the video gaming and esports industry and in a few years we are seeing this new economic niche continue to develop and strengthen on our shores and this is also thanks to the entity like Gaming Malta which attracts more companies come to our country and open studios here. We also have several schemes for start-ups to give birth to new talents in this sector,” said Minister Silvio Schembri.
Minister Schembri also spoke about the importance of cultivating local talent in these sectors and this is also being done with UNITY courses both at MCAST and at the University of Malta.
