Embellishment project of Pjazza Tolfa, in Għajnsielem inaugurated

 The Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri and the Parliamentary Secretary for Local Government Alison Zerafa Civelli together with the Mayor Kevin Cauchi and the Local Council of Għajnsielem inaugurated the beautification project of Pjazza Tolfa, in ‘Ghajnsielem which was made through funds from the Development Planning Fund of the Planning Authority, Green Canopy from Ambjent Malta and funds from the Local Council.
Minister Clint Camilleri stated that the Planning Authority financed around €165,000 from the Development Planning Fund after receiving a joint application from Eko-Gozo and the Local Council so that this Square could be rebuilt. He continued that both the residents of Ghajnsielem and anyone who visits this locality can now enjoy this open space in which 15 trees have also been planted.
“This is a concrete example of urban greening, of how we can continue to improve and beautify the environment of our localities. Above all the squares that are the center of our villages. I congratulate the Local Council for the work done and encourage more Councils to present innovative ideas that translate into projects such as Pjazza Tolfa that the community benefits from,” concluded Minister Camilleri.
Parliamentary Secretary Alison Zerafa Civelli said that the squares in the villages are not only important for the social and cultural fabric in the community, but they enrich the unique characteristics of the localities and are essential to keep the villages alive and vibrant. She praised the commitment of the local council of Għajnsielem in favor of another project from a series of projects that the local council carried out in order to address the needs of the locality and the residents.
“This square is a clear demonstration of how much this Government believes in the capacity of local councils in carrying out local projects. Therefore, we are committed to continue to be a shoulder for the local councils and assist in everything necessary so that they continue to implement projects according to the needs of the localities and residents,” concluded Parliamentary Secretary Zerafa Civelli.
Tolfa is a twinned village with Għajnsielem and on the occasion of the 20th year of twinning a monument was also unveiled by the artist Paul Stellini. Present for this inauguration was the first Mayor of Tolfa Alessando Batticlochio and other Mayors.
