Minister for the Economy, Enterprise, and Strategic Projects, Silvio Schembri, participated in the 2nd edition of Investopia Europe in Milan, Italy. Under the leadership of Abdulla bin Touq AlMarri, UAE Minister of Economy and Chairman of Investopia, the event highlighted the collective endeavours to shape the future of the global economy.

This year’s event has expanded its reach to include territories like Malta, Cyprus, and Portugal, in addition to Italy and the UAE. Investopia Europe has become a crucial platform for stakeholders to discover and navigate investment opportunities in their specific commercial segments.

During a panel discussion focusing on promoting economic growth through international cooperation and partnership, Minister Schembri highlighted the crucial role of collaboration in effectively navigating the challenges of the global economic landscape. Minister Schembri remarked that “in a time characterised by fast-paced technological progress and changing global politics, it is important to collaborate and work together to achieve long-term economic growth and prosperity for all countries”.

Recognising the prevailing pattern of division in the global economy, the Economy Minister emphasised the urgent necessity to overturn this pattern and adopt a fresh approach to shared advantages. Exploring ways to enhance regulatory frameworks and standards and fostering economic partnerships were among the strategies explored to drive innovation and sustainable development.

During the event, Minister Schembri and Minister Abdulla bin Touq AlMarri held a bilateral meeting, delving into a comprehensive discussion on essential subjects vital for nurturing economic growth and cooperation. Among these, the relevance of family companies, the digital environment of our economy, and measures for enhancing connectivity emerged as focal points within the context of the discussion.
