The Minister for National Heritage, Arts and Local Government Owen Bonnici together with the Chairman of the Cultural Agency for Valletta Jason Micallef opened the 10th edition of the Valletta Green Festival, in St. George Square, the Valletta City, which is being staged between 10 and 19 May 2024.
Minister Owen Bonnici explained how for this festival, St. George Square was transformed into a garden that includes 62 trees, around 5,000 shrubs, together with 13,000 plants and two fountains. The trees include Mediterranean varieties such as locust, cypress, camphor, oleander, and olive trees.
“Through initiatives such as the Valletta Green Festival, we are continuing to keep Valletta alive. I encourage families to attend this festival to even enjoy this garden,” concluded Minister Bonnici.
The Chairman of the Agency Jason Micallef reiterated that this is the biggest edition being staged of the Valletta Green Festival. “We invite families to come and enjoy this wonderful space in the heart of the capital city and the activities that have been planned.”
The activities during the festival include live music from Trakadum, Saturday 11 May between 10.30am and noon and Ta’ Verna Folk Band, Sunday 12 May, between 2pm and 4pm.
