The Lands Authority and the Sliema Philharmonic Society signed a contract through which the license of the same band’s club in Sliema is renewed. Through this contract, this society will enjoy a census title for the period of 50 years. This club has been the seat of this society for many years and it was time for the census title to be renewed so that this society can continue with its work.
This was announced by the Minister for Lands and the Implementation of the Electoral Program Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi while he presided over the signing of this contract on an occasion held at the same seat of the Society. Minister Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi explained, “As a government we will continue to see how to help various associations including band clubs through government property. This is a strong means of continuing to invest in these associations and continue to support the cultural and social value of the band clubs in the various localities in our country.” The minister recognized the valuable work that the Lands Authority is doing in order to continue to support the voluntary organizations as well as the local council to continue to strengthen their work in the cities and villages.
Jesmond Vella, the President of the Sliema Philharmonic Society, showed his appreciation for this agreement and explained that this will be reassuring for the committee and the members of this society. “I welcome this agreement as stability and continuity of our Society to continue to give its service in volunteering and teaching music in our community”, concluded Mr. Vella.
