At the inauguration of a regeneration project of Pjazza 1902 in Pembroke, Prime Minister Robert Abela stressed that in regeneration we must see quality and development that respects Maltese characteristics. It meant how the inaugurated project, which gave life to a place that was abandoned after extensive damage in the past, embraces the principles linked to the environment and quality.
In fact, with a private investment of €5 million, this building, known as the Raffles disco in the eighties, was restored and today offers different services for the community. From a childcare center to food establishments, a gym and even a meeting place, this grade 1 building has been invested in and has retained its original features.
In an address he made, the Prime Minister Robert Abela claimed that this investment is testimony to the direction the Government is giving in favor of sustainable development. “We must plan these spaces with care and make them beautiful where the family deserves to spend quality time of their lives in the most beautiful environment possible”, claimed Prime Minister Abela. He added that development cannot be on a track for him or on the opposite side of the environment but both aspects must come together to produce the best possible result.
Note how this private investment is also an act of trust in the country and while the Government wants to continue to incentivize investment with the help and stability it offers, it also wants to facilitate it by reducing bureaucracy. “A wise and sustainable investment brings wealth to everyone”, said Dr. Abela, who noted how success in our country is the result of the courage of the investor and the worker.
