A portal has been launched that will allow temping agencies to register their operation and apply for the license online. This was announced by the Parliamentary Secretary for Social Dialogue Andy Ellul, when he addressed another information meeting for operators of employment agencies.
Parliamentary Secretary Ellul claimed that the registration process for temping agencies will now be more efficient and convenient. This portal will also help the Department of Industrial Relations and Employment (DIER) in the administration of the laws, which were announced last November and which have now come into force.
The Parliamentary Secretary Andy Ellul announced that so far 42 employment agencies have applied for the issuance of a license to comply with the laws and appealed to those agencies that have not yet applied to apply online through this portal .
He claimed that the process of drawing up these laws was done with an emphasis on dialogue and transparency and he mentioned how they found collaboration both from the labor agencies and from the social partners. “We found good will from the operators because they recognized the importance of this law, not only to safeguard the rights of the workers but also for the professionalism and successes of the operators,” repeated Dr Ellul.
The Parliamentary Secretary also noted the importance of the service of these work agencies, as they are essential for many areas of our country’s economy. “Now we will have clear visibility of the sector and we will be ensuring that those workers who come to our country will really be needed here in the labor market and only those who have the necessary skills will come,” concluded the Parliamentary Secretary Ellul is and reminds that from the beginning of June the enforcement will begin.
Present for this information meeting was the Director General of DIER, Diane Vella Muscat.
