Applications open for ‘Life is my Adventure’ – the theme for Summer School 2024

Applications for this year’s edition of SkolaSajf opened today, March 20. This was announced during a visit that the Minister for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation Clifton Grima made to the San Miguel Resource Center in Pembroke, during which details were given about SkolaSajf 2024 and the logo for this year was launched.

The theme for SkolaSajf 2024 is ‘Life is my Adventure’ and the chosen logo is inspired by a design by Scarlett Schembri who won the logo design competition for this year.

“SkolaSajf is an excellent service that is not only part of our vision and work so that the education system reflects the realities and needs of the society we live in, but a service through which we nurture children from an age young through alternative learning that will help them in their future life,” said Minister Clifton Grima.

This year SkolaSajf will be given by 55 centers around Malta and Gozo between Monday and Friday, which include 5 Resource Centers and 5 centers in Gozo. The service runs from 10 July to 9 August and from 19 August to 6 September. While the SkolaSajf hours are between 8:30 in the morning and half an hour, in selected centers this service will be extended for working parents, from 7:00 to 8:30 in the morning and from half an hour to 5:30 in the afternoon.

Minister Grima described this service as a successful one, with applications increasing from year to year. While in 2020 there were 7,849 applications, last year more than 12,000 applications came in.

Through SkolaSajf, thousands of students are being given an extended education service with the children who attend benefiting from a program of informal educational activities that include outings and sports games, among others.

The entities from the public and private sector that contribute to SkolaSajf are also growing, in fact last year there were 71 entities that also include private companies and Non-Governmental Organizations that participated in SkolaSajf.

During this morning’s launch, three children who came in the first 3 places in this year’s logo design competition were presented with a prize of books by Minister Clifton Grima.

The applications will start being received online from today 20 March to 2 May on the site https://services.fes.gov.mt/ , or from any servizz.gov hub.
